There is no fear for one whose mind is not filled with desires

In many philosophical and spiritual traditions, desire is seen as the root cause of suffering and attachment, which can lead to fear, disappointment, and other negative emotions.

When our minds are consumed with desires, we tend to create expectations for the future. If these desires are not fulfilled, fear of loss, failure, or the unknown can arise. Therefore, the notion that freedom from fear can be attained by relinquishing desires suggests that by cultivating a mindset of detachment and contentment, we can achieve a state of peace and tranquility.

This concept is often emphasized in various spiritual and philosophical teachings, such as in Buddhism, where desire and attachment are considered as obstacles to enlightenment and inner peace. Similarly, in Stoicism, the idea of controlling one's desires and expectations to achieve tranquility is a central tenet.

Ultimately, this quote encourages introspection and reflection on the role of desire in our lives and how it influences our emotions, actions, and overall well-being. By cultivating a sense of detachment and focusing on inner contentment, it suggests that one can attain a state of fearlessness and peace of mind.
