Principal in India suspended and arrested for enticing students into adopting Islam

The incident took place at Maharaja Sayajirao Gaikwad Arts, Science and Commerce College in Malegaon during a career guidance seminar. The seminar commenced with a brief Islamic prayer, but its consequences resulted in the suspension of the college principal, who has subsequently been charged by the police.

The college is under the administration of Dr Apoorva Hiray, a leader of the Sena (UBT) party and a former BJP MLC. Following objections from right-wing members, a First Information Report (FIR) was filed, alleging that the event was an attempt to entice students towards Islam.

According to Dr. Subhash Nikam, the now-suspended principal, the program began with the recitation of a short Islamic prayer, during which the speaker addressed the students. Towards the conclusion of the event, a large group of individuals entered the hall, claiming that the seminar aimed to promote Islam.
