An 80-year-old woman was raped and murdered by individuals believed to be connected to Islamic jihad

An 80-year-old woman has reportedly died as a result of a rape incident that occurred on her farm in the Costain area of Ore, Odigbo Council Area in Ondo State. The perpetrators, believed to be herders, are suspected to be responsible for this heinous act, causing distress among the town and nearby communities.

According to Vanguard reports, a local resident informed journalists that the victim had gone missing for several days after going to her farm. Eventually, her lifeless body was discovered a few days later. It was reported that she had been undressed following the sexual assault.

A community member stated, "This is not the first time we have witnessed such a horrific incident. These hoodlums suspected to be herdsmen have raped numerous women on their farms. As a result, women have been reluctant to go to their farms alone for some time now. The motive behind targeting this elderly woman remains a mystery to us in the community."

Meanwhile, the police have made an arrest in connection with the crime. A palm wine tapper, who was found in possession of the victim's phone, was apprehended by local youths. The suspect then led them to the location where the victim's body was discovered, claiming that she was murdered by some herdsmen, according to a police source.
